They soon discover the palace is a trap run by Princess Akina, a vengeful demon who drains the life energy of men to maintain her youth. In a desperate attempt to save Jyurota, Maya kills the Princess, but the act binds her to the mountain's curse, transforming her into the new demon and perpetuating a tragic cycle of predation.
