After a chance encounter with the frail Tachibana Aki, Koga Shigemaro discovers that she possesses a rare "ghost-attracting body" that draws in supernatural entities. When a malevolent spider-spirit possesses Aki and causes her to act erratically, Shigemaro uses his grandfather's exorcism papers to save her and liberate a lingering spirit. This encounter reveals a mysterious connection between Aki's health and the Chief of Medicine at her hospital, setting the stage for a paranormal summer.

After helping the spirit Kiyomi find peace by completing her flower garden, Shigemaro encounters Kaoru, a spirit longing for a lost ring. Following a battle with a Karasutengu monster, Shigemaro discovers that Kaoru is not truly dead but is actually in a coma. Inspired by Shigemaro's kindness and support, Kaoru overcomes her despair and finds the strength to return to the living world.
